Dahlia Rooted Cuttings

 

  • Rooted cuttings are small, baby plants that have been sprouted from dahlia tubers.
  • Rooted cuttings will ship in spring. Shipping will begin as soon as temps are warm enough to ship safely. March-April usually.
  • Rooted cuttings will be shipped in hard plastic clamshell shippers to help protect them during transport.
  • Most rooted cuttings will be in a root riot (or similar brand) cube.
  • Most rooted cuttings do make tubers, as long as you plant them in time. Dahlia's need approx. 120 days to make good tubers in my experience. Zones with shorter growing times should plant as soon as it is warm enough to do so. I have heard people say that their cuttings did not make any tubers, but I have never had that happen myself. I can't guarantee the cutting will produce tubers of course.
  • I plant my rooted cuttings slightly deeper, usually 2 leaf nodes underground.
